Alicante will host an international work event as of next week, from the 10th to the 12th March. This event will analyse the carbon dioxide emissions and reduce energy consumption in the construction sector. Fifteen experts, from six different European countries, will attend the occasion, which is part of a project of the International Energy Agency (IEA). The host of this international event will the architecture, engineering and construction software company, CYPE, with headquarters in Alicante.

The International Energy Agency is an autonomous organisation that works to favour energy efficiency and make it more economical and clean in the 28 member countries in which it operates. To achieve this, two years ago, the IEA initiated annex 56: Cost Effective Energy and Carbon Emissions Optimization in Building Renovation, with the aim to create professional solutions to achieve the European objective of nearly zero energy buildings.

At the event, which begins in Alicante on Monday 10th March, different experts from Spain, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland and Portugal will define the most profitable combinations from an energy and sustainable perspective when designing a new building or rehabilitation project.

For Benjamín González, Corporate Development Director of CYPE, the company hosting this event, “the latest design standard changes in Europe have obliged professionals to know the area which refers to the energy consumption of buildings, and reconsider the approach to achieve the objectives for the year 2020, for both new and rehabilitation projects”.

On Tuesday 11th March, the group of experts of the International Energy Agency (IEA) will visit the sites for the rehabilitation plan in the north of Alicante, to know which objectives have been achieved in this project and analyse if the energy and environmental improvements that have been carried out with this action plan are sufficient. The international meeting will end on Wednesday 12th March with the presentation of the results of the event.
