Software for Architecture, Engineering and Construction

The Architecture, Engineering and Construction software company, CYPE will participate in the International Sustainable Building Conference, from the 28th to the 30th October, and is one of the most important events regarding sustainability in the building and construction sector. The event, which will take place at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya and will be organised by Green Building Council España, having been selected amongst other candidates from Holland, Portugal, Qatar and Scotland, and will also hold the World Sustainable Building Conference of 2014, which expects to assemble over 3,000 professionals from over 50 different countries.

The International Sustainable Building Conference is sponsored every three years by CIB (International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction), iiSBE (International Initiative for Sustainable Environment), UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) and FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers). The conference topic of this year and debate to be held during these days at the Fair of Barcelona will be “Sustainable Building Results: Are we moving as fast as we should?”.

In this sense, the event will analyse and study three lines of action in the construction and building sector, and encourage accessible dwellings in adequate environments, especially in the case of emerging markets. Similarly, the people organising the event will analyse how the ecological, and hence, energy and climatic footprint can be reduced by looking at different ecosystems: ground, biodiversity, etc. All this is done with the aim to promote new sustainable economic activity and employment.

Within this conference, CYPE technical staff will show how their software for architecture, engineering and construction has improved the efficiency amongst construction professionals. Specifically, the software company has developed programs such as the Price Generator (which, amongst other functions, analyses CO2 emissions and waste management) and has improved CYPECAD MEP, with which project designers can improve the insulation of buildings, as well as the efficiency of the air conditioning, lighting and electric supply. All these programs are available at an international level and are already used by professionals in over 64 countries around the world.

Similarly, CYPE has carried out investigation projects for its software, improving the efficiency amongst construction professionals. One of these projects consists of software which calculates the environmental impact generated from building a building on the planet. To obtain the “ecological footprint” data of a construction job, the company has used the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and energy incorporated during the construction phase.
