CYPE holds an international event in Alicante for the HOLISTEEC research project

• The HOLISTEEC research project aims to design, develop and validate a collaborative software platform in the cloud for building design, based on the BIM concept.

• The new platform wishes to overcome the limitations related to the complexity and variability of the life cycle of buildings, fragmentation and low interoperability that exists between tools and agents in the lifecycle, poor integration of the end user during the process and the lack of new collaborative business models.

Alicante hosts an international work meeting this week to move forward with the HOLISTEEC project, a European initiative which aims to design, develop and validate a collaborative software platform in the cloud for building design, based on the BIM concept, which incorporates support decision-making in the face of multi-criteria optimisation. This research project, which will also help improve all aspects of the energy efficiency of buildings and their life cycle, has counted on CYPE to be the host of the event in Alicante.

The new platform, under development, will consider physical phenomena at building scale (thermal, acoustic, lighting, comfort), as well as considering influences at district scale such as calculating shadows or integration with distribution networks, amongst others. This way, the new platform will overcome the current existing limitations, which are related to the complexity and variability of the life cycle of buildings, fragmentation and interoperability that exists between tools and agents in the lifecycle, as well as the poor integration of the end user during the process and the lack of new collaborative business models.

For Holisteec project coordinator, Elisabetta Delponte, this project will "replace the linear design process (design prior to bringing into operation) by a loop-based process, which is fed back at each stage as the level of details increases and allows for the analysis of mutual interactions amongst the different fields”.

The event has counted with the participation of different experts from Spain, Italy, Taiwan, Germany, France and Holland, amongst others, who have delved in the development of software which will allow for the development of this new collaborative platform to help improve building systems in Europe and increase the energy efficiency of buildings.
